Can anyone advise if its better taking travellers cheques in Sterling or Euros to Kos?
I took Euros to Portugal earlier this year, but their commission so high it would have worked out cheaper to take Sterling (even more so as the exchange rate was better there) |

I found generally that commission charges in Portugal were much higher than Greece. In Greece we always used to take Sterling travellers cheques and change them at our local travel agent. However we do not take them any more and when we go again this September we are just taking 150 Euros to cover a few days spending and then using our debit cards to get cash from the ATMs (Nationwide do not charge for using their debit card abroad). We did this last year and it worked out fine so crossing our fingers again for this time.

Thanks for the info. I went with Euro TC's in the end as my bank charges for transactions abroad. Never mind, hopefully next year I'll have it sorted.
Not too worried now, have my money, passport and we are all even packed two days before we leave for the sun - must be a record . _________________ Going to Kos on 15th August 2007, cant wait |

These days I just take Euros and find a safe deposit box. |
