Have just returned from a 2 week stay at the Hotel Votsalakia in Votsalakia or Kambos as it is also known, travelling with Kosmar Holidays. Have been to many Greek Islands, but have to say this is one of the prettiest. The resort itself is very good with ample facilities, Cash Machine, Doctor, Supermarkets, loads of Car Hire, and some very good Resturants. Annas Kitchen was different in the fact that no menu, you just get taken up to see what she has cooked, word of warning, get there early or not much left to chose from, but all very good. Votslakia Resturant, very good food and service, lovely view over the beach, large menu. Muses Taverna, 200mtrs off road, quiet, very Greek, but nice. Nick The Greek Fish Resturant, very good for the Fish as he is first one in village and gets the choice of the fish as it is brought in. Vrosi Resturant was excellent, very good service, quiet and very good food. But our choice for the best in resort has to be The Blue Bucket, especially the Kelftico, done in the wood oven, really good service and really nice people who work there.
Car hire is a must to see rest of Island, although dont bother with Samos Town. Places to visit, Potami near Karlovasi, also the waterfalls here, Tsabon further round North Coast, very nice. Limnionas near Votsalakia can be reached using local bus. bear in mind that nealy all these beaches are shingle or very small stone so Jelly shoes a must. Trip to Patmos on boat is good and nearly gurantees to see Dolfins swimming at front of boat, and town very pretty. |
