Many years ago I spent a few blessed days in Megisti (Kastellorizo). At the time the island (hugely popular with Australians with Greek roots) had very few tourists, lots of houses being rebuilt and an athmosphere of peaceful bliss. To this day when I smell figs I am brought back there.
I would love to go return, but am afraid to discover that it has became a tourist trap.
Has anyone been there recently? How is it now? Is the restaurant in the big square (next to the cathedral) still doing business (the best chickpea meatballs ever eaten...)?? |
