santorini, sifnos, naxos

Cyclades is the most popular island complex in the Aegean Sea. However, apart from busy islands, it also has small family places for true relaxation...

we are planning to travel from van.canada in september to amsterdam and greece for 2 weeks. we are thinking fly into amsterdam and stay for 3 or 4 days and then fly to athens and out to islands or fly straight from amsterdam to santorini,,,want to make the best use of our time. we may only have time for 2 islands and want to spend at least 2 nights in athens...........any thoughts on these choices? if we were tp get an apartment/kitchenette style room on 1 island could we find a grocery store? i cannot find any ferry schedules yet...maybe its too early....and i am wondering if there is a cheap flight from amster. to santorini??? what about crete????? we are not into nightlife, looking for islands with nice beaches, ruins/history, and not too too crowded. we want to rent scooters and relax! thanks

Shouldn't be too crowded in September, I would stick to no more than 2 islands. Perhaps the popular Santorini and another less-known nearby island with great beaches thah you can get a ferry to from there (like Milos). You'll have no problem with groceries, and getting a place with a kitchenette is a great idea.

Not sure about options for flying from Amsterdam directly to the islands, would think most go through Athens or Thessolaniki. But from Athens you can either get a high-speed ferry or book travel with Aegean Air or Olympic to most islands with airports. Ferry schedules won't be published yet, some routes aren't put online until a month or two prior.
