Hi Andyt,
Sorry to see that nobody has any information about Lesvos.
Personaly I don't have a great knowledge about the place as I just stayed a few days there and that was many years ago.
All the islands are good places to take a family. Lesvos maybe even more as it is a very quiet island.
Concerning the jeep on Lesvos it is a little difficult to say for anyone as it would always be subjective. Usualy all the companies have the same prices and contracts. The only way to find something cheaper would be via a last minute system. _________________ www.greeka.com

Best Island we have visited because there are few British tourists. If I went again I would stay in either Anaxos or Petra as the beaches are OK. These resorts are very small and have limited Taverna's/bars. You will be only a short ride away from Molyvos where we stayed. This is a place for evenings as has no beach but a castle and harbour to die for. The views from the taverna's are breathtaking. Get a car and also discover the far south of the Island, Vitari beach again is breathtaking and massively UNDER DEVELOPED... brilliant.
The only thing about being a big Island is that the transfers from the Airport to the resorts are fairly long(1-1-5Hours). Apart from that it is the most traditional greek Island we have been to. It reminded us of how Skiathos used to be 11 years ago, the first time we visited Greece.
Hope this helps.
P.S. You really want to go to the Trip Advisor webpage.....google it where you will find many postings on Lesbos and it's resorts. |

Thank you much for you comment!
I guess that you are really lucky to have discovered Skiathos 11 years ago. I suppose it was heaven on earth and then "destroyed" but massive tourism. _________________ www.greeka.com

We went to Anaxos in Lesvos a couple of years ago, and it was a lovely resort. We travelled extensively on the local bus between Anaxos, Petra, Molyvos and Eftalou (and by taxi in the evenings when the bus stopped running). Molyvos is a stunning place, and I will never forget eating at the waterfront tavernas there, or the restaurants with the platforms built hanging out over the cliff.
The hot springs at Eftalou are amazing....but very hot. Unlike the one at Embros Thermae in Kos, this one did not cure my prickly heat!! It will still a fantastic experience, immersing yourself in scalding volcanic water up to your neck before hurling yourself into the sea. There is also a very good restaurant just along the road from the hot springs.
If you do stay in Anaxos, be careful which hotel you use. We try and aim for something quiet, but ended up in a room over a bar with nightly quiz nights and karaoke. Not our thing at all. There are some wonderful apartments up on Anaxos Hll - a bit of a trek from town, but the most amazing views and a lovely seawater swimming pool.
My only regret is that we didn't make it to the open air cinema in Molyvos. |

| Ooh, forgot to add. Lesvos is the only island we have visited where the farmers still use donkeys to get around, and park them outside the kafeinion in the evening. |
