|
|
Hello, I am planning a trip with my two children. I am looking for good accommodation, many activities and spectacular scenery. I would also have the opportunity to access to tours around the island. I am thinking about Crete, Cyprus or Rhodes.
Any ideas would be appreciated. |

Hello Doremifa,
I have never been to Cyprus before but between Crete or Rhodes I would propose you to go to Crete.
If you want to check information about those two destinations please visit:
For Rhodes: www.greeka.com/dodecanese/rhodes/
For Crete: www.greeka.com/crete/
! Crete is a huge island and is divides in prefectures! |

Hi
My wife and I have been to Crete several times over the past five years and have explored most of the island. It is, for us, the most beautiful island of Greece. It has a history of thousands of years and many ruins to visit. There are also many museums with all the extraordinary ancient Greek items. The landscapes are beautiful, the beaches also and the area is so big that after so many years, we have not finished discovering it. |

If you travel to Crete with little children and you book your accommodation ahead than avoid Malia or Chersonissos and go to Analipsi or Agia Pelagia... For the spectaculair scenery you go to the south. Tsoutsouros would be a nice place there. _________________ Hans The Greek Islands

Crete is a lovely island and perfect for children as any greek island.
The northern area is most suitable, and here you can choose between
Rethymnon or Chania area.
In Rhethymnon there are a lot of accomodations to choose from and it is has a nice harbour with tavernas and a very nice old town to walkaround in.The beach is also good and long but a few people drown here every season. But don't hesitate to go here, just use your common sense when your at the beach, because this is a real pearl.
The Chania area have several places to choose from:
Kato Stalos, Agia marina, Platanias all of them can be very crowdy during high season and Platanias is the worst one (my opinion).
My wife and I have been several times in Agia Marina both alone and together with our children and grand children. There are good places for children to swim where the water is shallow, but once again use your common sense, this year 3-4 people have drowned here to.
Which ever you choose you will find good accomodation, nice tavernas and good access to tours.
If you like it more quiet and laid back then maybee Agia Pelagia or Georgiopolis could be good alternatives.

dear doremifa
i went there many times with and without kids ... the main issue is that crete is pretty big and in principle it is clearly divided into 2 different kind of tourists type: south is more simple, less crowded, far and secrete and you will never forget it once having been there.
north is more package like, still beautiful but really packed and less wild...
go south and look for some small place to stay with a car to be used to daytrips...
paleochora, ierapetra... |

I never thought I'd read the name Tsoutsouros on a forum, (Lived there for the better part of 10 yrs) But your absolutley right it still is, for me one of the most unspoiled parts of Crete, even though there are more bars and tavernas there than last year....Good place for the kids!
