Hello, anyone who knows the best place to stay on Milos island ?
We are considering to stay in Apollonia in September. Isn't there too much wind at that time of the year? |

Hello,
You will enjoy the island of Milos. Perfect beaches and excursions.
In Greece, the windy period is August with the meltemi from the North. September is calm except from some days. There is nothing fixed. The statistics shows many differences from year to year.
Concerning a place to stay check www.milos-nefelistudios.gr/
I don't know if it is the best place but the people there were really friendly! |

Hello,
I stayed in Pollonia in the begin of Agoust. The weather was windy, but not excessively. I stayed in a small hotel, it's called Tania Milos (www.taniamilos.gr). A very good place to stay, because rooms are few feet from the sea, and in the evening you can see the sunset over the sea (wonderful!!!). It's a little expensive (75 euros per night) but rooms are clean and people there, was very kindly. |

| We stayed at the Hotel Ostria in Adamas which was really nice! It's within walking distance to the main port (10 minutes maybe?) and you pass quite a few fish tavernas along the way. I don't have the number handy, but see if you can find it online. |

Then you must be planning to visit Sifnos, lol!
Seriously, there is no Apollonia in Milos. This is a common error people make. The village you are referring to on the northestern part of Milos is called "Pollonia" (neutral gender, plural) as opposed to "Apollonia" (feminine gender, singular) in Sifnos.
In any case, September is perhaps the best month to visit Milos. Prices are low, while the weather is excellent and the sea is still warm. Pollonia in particular is a fantastic resort, built around a beautiful bay with a tree-lined beach, excellent lodging and good restaurants. You may even visit nearby Kimolos for a day, via a ferry that takes 10 minutes to cross to that neighboring island from Pollonia.
If I were you, however, I'd avoid dining on the coast of Pollonia. This is hearsay, but with the notable exception of "Araxovoli", the restaurants right on the coast are notorious for serving food that is neither fresh nor a good value for your money. All other restaurants in Pollonia, however, (4-5 of them) are very good. My favorite one is called "Filetaki". Tell Frangiscos or Margarita that Andreas Belivanakis sent you.
As for places to stay, I can personally vouch for Stavros Rooms, Efi Studios, Kalimera Rooms, Villa Maryelen, Kapetan Tasos and Kostantakis Studios. Andreas Rooms (no relation) is also supposed to be very good, but it is unlikely you'll find any vacancy unless you book several months in advance. _________________ http://www.milosisforlovers.com |

We planed our vacation for a long time. And decided that we will stay in MIlos. We made sure that Milos is the best place for a calm, beautiful family vacation. Very good service (we were in Nefeli studios, Pollonia), good people and beautiful nature. We will definately go there one more time! An we think that it is better to locate not on the hills, it is very difficult to drive there.

Hello everyone!!
I am planning my summer holidays and chose Milos and more specific Pollonia. I have some questions though and would really appreciate if someone could answer me. First of all, is it worth renting a car or is it best for me to use the bus? Also, could someone tell me if most of the beaches can be reached by road? I am also thinking of going on a cayak daily trip i saw advertised on the internet. Has anyone done that?
Thank you in advance!! |
