Where to stay

Cephalonia has many nice places to stay and visit. I always stay in the south of the Island at a place called Skala. It is a small friendly resort, that offers many fine Taverna's, and has a good mix of bars.

Skala has over 5km of sandy shingle beach, and all the usual small town ammenities super market, doctors, and little gift shops. Its about an hour transfer time from the airport. There are many fine hotels and apartments to stay at in and around Skala, you will be able to find ones from 2 - 5 stars at your local travel agents.

I have visited Kefalonia many times as I love it so much.

I found the best place to stay was Lassi, as it was so easy travelling to and from the small airport, which is only a 10-15 minute drive away, and doesn't cost a fortune in transfer fee's which can eat into your holiday spending money. (A taxi to Lassi costs just a few euro's).

Lassi is a quiet resort, with just one main street with bars and restaurants.

Also, the main large town of Argostoli is just 3 miles away, and easily within walking distance, or a cheap bus or taxi ride away, if you want more shops or just sight see, or take a boat trip.
Also a good place to see the rare turtles around the fishing boats.
We have no problems visiting other resorts on the Island when we are based in Lassi. It's just a perfect base, and still very beautiful and peaceful.

I visited Kefalonia last year and I stayed in Assos. It is a graphic village and well organized.

It has a small bay surrounded by traditional houses and taverns looking to the sea and to Assos Castle on the opposite peninsula.

For me it is the best place to stay!

Just have a look at the san lorenzo village in lassi, its superb. The best beaches are in lassi in my opinion and you are only a couple of minutes from argastoli and more central for visiting the rest of the island.
