Who has visited Kefalonia and hasn't loved it? The island for true relaxation...

I'm visiting the island for the first time at the end of August and I wanted to know if it's possible to hire a bicycle form anywhere? Anything I should do as a first time visitor going on their own?

Hi

You can hire a bike in most towns, however be aware of the roads. I would not like to cycle along the roads in Cephalonia, the cars and lorrys are fast moving and the drops off the side are not for the faint hearted.

There is plenty to see and do on Cepalonia, Fiskardo is a must, and so is Asos. The best way to see the island is to book one of the coach tours stoping at all the famous sites like Myrtos Beach etc. (see my review for details) Skala is the place i always stay at, and the old village of Skala offers a nice hike up into the hills. Go early and take plenty of water with you. Argostoli the capital is well worth a visit in the evening.

The village of Katelios serves up very good seafood, the lobster is excellent. Visit one of the wineries, for a tasting and a couple of bottles. Take a boat trip over to Ithaca as well, takes about an hour, and is a very charming little island.

I am sure you will love Cephalonia, it is very friendly and relaxed.

Regards
