Snorkel coves

by bear » Wed Oct 11, 2006 1:28 pm

Rather than the long wide sandy beaches, we look for small rocky, pebbly inlets, perfect for snorkelling.

Can anybody tell me if the island can provide them for me please?

I'm looking at a map and on the south coast Amouso, Afteli and Sivota look small enough so can anybody expand on these , with accommodation right upon them if possible.

Thanks

Jerry

Hi bear,

I have never been to these places. I just saw them from the road that leads to the village/beach of Vassiliki.
The beaches were very small if you compared them to the other beaches of the islands and they were some accommodation just behind.
I can't say more about them.

I only find info about Amousa on Greeka:

Excellent. Thankyou. Don't know how I missed that photo

Would you recommend any particular boat hire company aswell as excursion boat to the nearby islands?

Looking to hire a boat for the day (30 hp ) to do some coastline or possibly around Meganisi. Would this be possible in a small boat or would it need to be on a larger excursion boat?

Thanks

Jerry

I don't know much about renting on Lefkada. Just know that the owners of http://www.genigarden.com/ rent some small boats. You should try to contact them.

Thankyou. Yes I like the look of these. How much is a taxi into Nidri from there each night or how long to drive?

And the boat idea is fantastic.

Lefkada

I am not go there. But still have a good information about it. Lefkada is one of the Greek Ionian Islands located off the west coast of mainland Greece. It's a beautiful, fertile island with some superb beaches, an imposing mountainous interior and verdant valleys carpeted with vineyards, olive groves and cotton fields. The island has embraced package holiday tourism wholeheartedly but still has much to offer the independent traveller. There are bustling tourist resorts awash with beachside activities and late night bars but you'll also find many wonderful walking trails that weave their way between unspoilt mountain villages where rural life continues much as it has done for generations.
