My husband and I are planning a trip to Crete in late September with our 2 sons (ages 4 and 2) for 10 days. We'd like to split the trip up between a low-key, secluded destination and a more traditional resort option that is child friendly. We are leaning towards staying at FataMorgana/Paradiso apartments in Fangokastello for the low/key part (although happy to have other suggestions), but need recommendations for the "resort" portion of our trip. My husband and I strongly prefer resorts with simple elegance and/or local charm over mega resorts, however are looking for a few simple child amenities (pool, playground is nice...) Having the ability to walk to a town/village and a few restaurants (we love ethnic food) would be nice, but not a nesessity. Also, what kind of weather should we expect in late September. Better to be on the south east side?
Sorry for the lengthy posting but any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
