Greeka.com : holiday tips for santorini PLEASE! : Greek Islands and Greece Forums

My boyfriend and I are thinking about either island hopping or only going to Santorini. We wont have a car or anything and are worried this might be a problem. Does anyone have any opinion on what island is car-free friendly?
Also we want this holiday to be really romantic but not too expensive, any ideas???!!
We will probably go in July.

Hello,

I know that cars are not allowed in two Greek islands: Spetses and Hydra (Saronic), mostly in Hydra (only donkeys).

However, I believe that you will not have a problem in Santorini either, if you don't have a car. It has a good bus network and you will not have a problem to move around.

Hi,

- You can rent a car on any island. No need to rent a car for your whole stay but just for a couple of days to make your excursions.

- Santorini is a great island. It has a really good bus network so need of a car.

- It depends on how many holidays you have in order to combine several islands. Santorini can be visited in 3 days. Then you can go to an other kind of island like Naxos (http://www.greeka.com/cyclades/naxos/) or Paros (http://www.greeka.com/cyclades/paros/). These 2 islands are on the same ferry route so you can easily combine them with Santorini.
