Samaria Gorge

The favorite island of Crete is divided in four prefectures: Chania, Rethymnon, Heraklion and Lassithi...

Samaria Gorge

I first visited Crete in '95 with the Samaria Gorge a must do. 45 y.old and kitted out with steel toe capped boots from work all I needed. Setting off at 5 a.m. to get to the of the Gorge. By 10 o'clock we entered the gorge down the stairway to (definitely not) heaven. After suffering, my daughter wanted to walk it so did it again 6years later. Question is the Gorge pleasure or pain ?

For me, it would be pain, but there are many people who enjoy trekking.
I have heard that it offers great sceneries all along it and an abandoned village in the middleway.

Thanks for the reply.

Enjoyed scenery, walk. Just 4 hours in the midday sun did not add anything to the enjoyment.
