Congratulations on your forth comming wedding, I am a recent newly wed myself. I was married on Santorini 4 weeks ago, you have chosen well for your honeymoon.
The Santorini season runs from May to 31 Oct and as far as I am aware most resorts will still be open until that time. We stayed in Kamari which is one of the larger resorts on the island, full of nice restaurants and bars.
I recommend taking the island tour to Imeroglivi, and Oia, or hiring a car and seeing these places yourself, plus go to Thira for an evening meal and see the sunset. The Zafora restaurant over looks the Caldera, and view of the sunset is amazing, and it offers very good value for a Thira restuarant. I would also recommened a trip to the walled city of Pyrgos (which means Tower) the highest point on the Island for stuning veiws, but the place you cant miss is Oia, it is totally breath taking.
Hope you find this info useful, all the best for your forth comming wedding. _________________ J S Aston |

Hi
Hope you are well!!
Hows the wedding planning??
We married last September in Santorini. We flew out on 04/09/07 and stayed on the island for three amazing weeks. We married on the 15th and everything was perfect, the weather on our wedding day was amazing.
We stayed in Oia, which is magical! Our family and friends stayed in Kamari for a week or two. Now the last week we were there we noticed a big change in the weather, it gets rather windy and cold on an evening and we experienced many cloudy chilly days.
We returned this year for our anniversary and flew out on the 16/09/08. We split the holiday and stayed a week in Oia and then a week in Kamari. The difference in weather in the two resorts was unreal. As Oia is higher up it does get a lot of wind, we experienced a few days of freak weather, which the locals said they hadn't experienced for a long time and on an evening it did get very windy and quite cold.
Now in Kamari it was a lot hotter, however it was still quite cold at night!!
Alot of accommodation does tend to close early october, however some place do open all year round. Both resorts do become very quiet. I would say the same for the rest of the island.
We love Santorini as it is very special to us, however we have said we wouldn't return that late again, we would go back early September.
The island is amazing and I would reccommend it to any one, Its good for the sole!!
Any questions, let me know, I do have many pictures if you would like to see any. Email: louknight81@yahoo.co.uk Facebook: Lou Knight ( profile picture of the sunset)
Happy Planning
