Folegrandos vs Astypalea

Cyclades is the most popular island complex in the Aegean Sea. However, apart from busy islands, it also has small family places for true relaxation...

Folegrandos vs Astypalea

by jamiesalisbury » Thu Jul 03, 2008 9:38 pm

We're going island hopping for our honeymoon in September - I was hoping that we'd be able to to get to Folegrandos and Astypalea, but I think that it might be a bit too much travelling to get them both in (as well as Naxos, Santorini and Amorgos).

Any thoughts on the relative merits of Astypalea and Folegrandos would be much appreciated! We like wandering around nice Chora's, exploring on a motorbike, relaxing on the beach and enjoying good local food - we're very laid back, not party types!! We've been to quite a few islands before and Amorgos is our all time favourite.

Thanks

Jamie

Folegrandos and Astypalea are very nice islands and very quite even if there are getting more and more popular.

The only problem with these islands is that there are not on the famous ferry routes and it is not always easy to reach them.

Santorini, Naxos are very easily accessible. There are classical destinations but also very beautiful.

You should count 3 days min on each island. All have a lot to offer.

Re: the ferry routes, this is no problem, I think getting off the beaten track is important!

We have been island hopping before to Naxos, Santorini, Milos, Amorgos, Rhodes, Paros and Kos.

If you had to go to Folegrandos OR Astypalea, which would you go for?!
