Wedding Photographer

Hello

I am new to this forum, and need advice about wedding photography. We are traveling to Santorini on the 24th June, staying at the Kastelli in Karmari. We will be marrying at the Santos Winery as well.

This has all been booked with Thomas Cook. However when we recieved our check list for local payable services such has Photography, Wedding car etc. The version we were given was an internal company copy not for customers eyes. Listed were quotes for Photographers, etc. A typical photography sesion costs ?200, which is very reasonable, but then I noticed that Thomas Cook charge an aditional booking cost of another ?200 for doing nothing.

Now I don't mind paying ?400 total to a photographer to carry out a quality photo shoot, but I object to paying Thomas Cook money for doing nothing, and its the same for every other thing on the list, Car, Cake, Flowers. It states a 1Kilo Tub of Ice Cream costs ?10 but Thomas Cook will charge the guest as much as ?60.

I am a Profeshonal Photographer myself, but as I am the one who is getting married, I cant shoot my own wedding.

So I was wondering if anyone on this site knew of any good photographers on the island who I can approach directly.

Sorry, its a bit of a long post

Regards Jon

Oh Thanks very much

I see your name is Iloveleros, we went to Kaylmnos last year, and took a boat trip to Leros, it was beautiful, and so is Telendos as well.

Stayed on Kalymnos for 2 weeks in Myrties, would deffinately go again. Have you tried Cephalonia? It is a lovely Island, been many times and I am going in September for a couple of weeks, one of the mant Jewels of Greece.

Will be going back to Leros on 3 July, for the 7th time, and have been to Kalymnos for the day a couple of times. We're planning a visit this year - last time we went, we got a taxi to a village called (I think ) Emborios, where we had the biggest breakfast known to man. It was odd, even the tables and chairs were bigger than usual, and the food just kept coming. We declined the cereal and toast to start with, thank heavens, and when we'd finished (ie passed out from eating so much food), the very large lady who owned the taverna asked if we wanted more! She was at least 6ft tall and completely in proportion....
We just want to see if we dreamt it really. And then we plan to visit Telendos for the first time.

Haven't been to Kephalonia, we tried Zakynthos a few years ago. While it's a beautiful island, it wasn't for us.

Telendos is very nice and quite, just a few Taverna's and a shop, shelted cove's and a couple of roman ruins. There's a Taverna along from the beach that is owned by an Austrailan couple they do a lovely lobster. You can get the little ferry boats from Myrties on Kalymnos over Telendos, they run all day and well into the night. Myrties is where I stayed, its more lively as you go towards the main square, the restruants are very nice, and there is a good choice of bars, both lively and relaxing, depending on what you like.

We went to Emborios whilst on a trip to a little factory that produces honey. Its is a lovely villige.

I know my response is too late for you but maybe it will help someone else. Yes, arranging it yourself is the way to go. Thomas Cook is the middle man and they charge a fee to arrange everything for you. Depending on your budget and your organizational skills, I would arrange it myself.
