does anyone know if the archaeological site at Akrotiri is open this summer? I'm due to go in May and missed out several years ago as it closed down early in the season.

Hi Rich, I have been watching your post as I am going to Santorini in August and I was also wondering about Akrotiri being open or not. As no-one has replied to your post could you post any info that you get during your visit when you return.
ps. Have a great holiday!

we go Santorini every year and last year it was not open. i would go on the assumption that it's not reopened unless the tour operators tell you it is. hope this helps

Akrotiri

Hello All,
I too am watching this thread. I will be in Santorini on July 23 this year, would like to see Akrotiri. If anyone knows if it will be open by then, please let me know. I would also like to know what the best way is to get there from the dock. I read that there is an hourly bus from Gold Street. I was planning on taking a 3 hour tour in the morning, and we hoping to see Akrotiri in the afternoon. Does anyone know if this is practical/possible? The boat leaves at 5:00, so I wouldn't want to cut it too close. I'm just not sure how long it takes to get there, and how much time is needed to see it.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Hi Weasie55,
Thank you very much for the info. If I find out any further info, I'll post it here also. Sounds like we are probably out of luck this year to see the Akrotiri site.

thanks!
