Samos beaches

by Tripod » Tue Jul 19, 2005 7:38 pm

In reading about Samos it appears that the best beaches are on the
western side of the island. However, there do not appear to be many
roads over there, and much of that coast looks to be inaccessible by
car. What are the best beaches that are accessible by car or that
require only a short walk and where are they? I don't want to have to
walk an hour just to get to the beach. Thank you.

I have been to Tsampou beach which is very nice. I have also been to Kampos/Votsalakia and Mykali/Kerveli which are nice also butthey can get really crowded during peak season.

Snorkelling

by bear » Sun Aug 14, 2005 10:40 pm

Can anyone tell me what the snorkelling is like please or more to the point what are the coves like? Are they large sandy beaches or is there plenty of small rocky, pebbly inlets suitable for good snorkelling?
Thankyou

Hi

I would really recommend Samiopoula a small sandy beach on an nearby island, about 1h boat trip from Pythagorio. It's a nice day trip - well worth it if you don't mind the boat trip.

Psilli Amos, between Pythagorio and Samos, is another nice beach thats accessible by car.
