|
|
I'm off to Skiathos next month & I'm hoping the weather will have warmed up a bit. Over the last few weeks, weather in England seemed on a par with Skiathos.
Anyhow just wondered if anyone had thoughts of the best method of tripping around the Island. Car seems a bit like overkill so thought about maybe a motorbike or Quad could be the order of the day. Would a motorbike be better if limited access or Quad be safer if the roads/tracks rather rough?
Staying in Skiathos town but intend visiting most of the other places. _________________ it's a rough life but don't let it get you down! |

I have travelled a lot in the islands and saw many accidents as many of the people renting a motorbike had never ride one before.
I would recommend a quad as it is much safier.
There is only one main road on Skiathos Island and people (locals) drive like crazy (as most of the Greeks) as the know the roads very well and run very fast.
There are some roads that can not be accessed with a mororbike. For example the road that goes to the Kastro. Maybe the road is better today but when I was there a few years ago it was a real mess and saw only 4x4 going there. I went with a scooter but you must be really experienced. _________________ www.greeka.com

Thanx Alexis. I am an experienced motorcyclist but as the roads may be a bit rough and I will be carrying a passenger, maybe a quad would be safer. I have used a quad once, around quite a tricky rough track and hopefully you are less likely to fall off one. Only thing is I kept wanting to lean over and if particularly tricky put one foot down as if riding a motorcycle.Old habits die hard. _________________ it's a rough life but don't let it get you down! |
