One of the most remarkable features of the village are the traditional stone houses, made of the same type of rock. They are placed along the steep superficies one next to the other, forming a sort of cascade. In the square of the village, you will see the huge plane tree providing its shadow. The village also hosts some very antique walls dating between 2500 and 2000 BC, the time where ancient tribes inhabited the area.
There is an important archaeological site that is considered part of Vitsa village in the area of Genitsari, found between Vitsa and Monodendri. It includes the antique settlement of Molossoi, which was inhabited from the 9th until the late 4th century BC and two cemeteries consisting of different types of graves.
The churches of Agios Nikolaos, Kimissis and Taxiarchon, as well as the monastery of Prophet Elias, placed very close to the village, can also be taken into account. Apart from strolling around its nice alleys, you can visit the folk museum which hosts interesting articles of the every day life on Zagoria from the 16th to the 18th centuries.
If you want to spend the night in Vitsa, there are some convenient options. Enjoy the travel across the village of Vitsa and take advantage of the beautiful surroundings.
