Parga Museums, Greece: Information about the museums of Parga

Ecclesiastical Museum

The town of Parga hosts its own museum, the "Ecclesiastical Museum", placed in the centre of the town, right next to the church of Agioi Apostoloi.

There are also two copies of the scripts of a monk dating from the 17th century, apart from some old icons of great value, such as the icon of Mother Mary the Guider, Mother Mary of Vlacherna and Panagopoula.

Another interesting item found in the Ecclesiastical museum is the 300-year-old banner of Parga, made of red silk and painted by oil on both sides; the banner has a depiction of Mother Mary and baby Jesus with a background of golden stars. It also has holes from Turkish bullets, which testify the hard times this town went through during their invasions.

The Ecclesiastical Museum, the only museum in Parga, hosts some interesting exhibits that reveal the rich history and the religious features of this small town.

The Ecclesiastical Museum has many interesting displays, such as two Holy Bibles of the 17th century, one of which was made by a Venetian silversmith and the other one was written by a monk in 1625.
