It has a volcanic
soil and a mountainous interior, its highest pick
rising at an altitude of 1,142 metres. The island is close to the mainland Greece, only 10 kilometres
away from Keramoti village, Kavala.
Thassos has a total area of about 400 sq km,
a length of 24 km and a width of about
20 km. Its shape is almost circular. |

Olives, tobacco and vineyards are cultivated. These activities, along with quarrying, fishing, beekeeping and tourism, constitute
