I first went on Thassos in 1999 and I have been there 6 times since then. Two things might happen: you will love Thassos at first sight or you like be bored. Me I loved it! Loved it for its amazing, hidden coves (each time I go I discover new beaches), the mountainou villages in the centre, mount Ypsario where we go family trekking, the fish taverns, the old harbour in Limenas where it is amazing to stroll at night.
The amazing thing is that I feel so secure on Thassos. I don't mind to leave my car open, as in all Greek islands. I know that I will not get lost or confused because the locals will always help you, even if you ask them the most stupid question. The elderly do not speak English but they try to understand what you are telling. Hotels are comfortable but if you are going first time, make sure it has all the amenities you need. Key rates in Greek and foreign hotels are very different.
