More about: Thassos island
We just returned from our trip to Thassos, where we stayed at a nice boutique hotel in Limenas. The blend of traditional and modern atmosphere is noticeable in this village. It is regarded as the commercial and administrative centre of the island. The interesting feature of this village is that it is divided into two sections. The old part is extremely touristy for the ancient ruins and historical sites, whereas the new part is filled with modern touristy facilities like hotels, nightclubs, shops and restaurants so that tourists can have a good time here. Our hotel staff provided us with a brochure that included all the interesting places that we can visit on this island. We hired a car for a couple of days and visited Theologos and the beautiful southern coast.
Along the way, you could see so many gorgeous beaches. The inland of
Thassos was so great for trekking. I wish there were plenty of signed trekking paths and that these activities were more organized. It is a pity that such a beautiful island is not appropriately developed. It seems to me that the Greek islands base their economy exclusively on tourism, so wouldn't it be better to emphasize more on that?
