General information

Metalia Beach Thassos: Metalia beach is situated on the foot of a villa at Limenaria. It is a fine sandy beach ideal for children and lies 39 km south west of Limenas, the capital of Thassos. Metalia has pliable sands and there is a gradual and gentle descent into the placid and crystal clear waters of the Aegean Sea making the shoreline shallow. There is a pretty miniature bay accessible via a short trail. There is no natural shade on the beach, but sun beds under umbrellas are available on rent.

There are also provisions for light food and drinks from an adjoining snack outlet operating in the Metalia beach. The famous mining industry of Thassos with its blast furnaces, which are visible from the Metalia beach, creates a unique setting.

There are also some ramshackle smelting chimneys of a deserted factory, which stretches out in the horizon. Due to the shallowness of the seashore and the crystal clear water, Metalia beach is a very nice snorkeling destination.

What happened to Marble Beach Saliara
My boyfriend and I visit Thassos every summer numerous times. Last year, late August, was our first time to one of Thassos' most beautiful beaches, Marble beach. It was clean, the beach bar was open, the water was crystal clear, there were toilets... everything was perfect.
This year, we first went to Marble beach in the end of May. The beach bar still wasn't open, which is normal in the end of May. Overall, everything was nice.
We went back to Marble beach again in late June/early July and we were horrified. The beach was full with trash and there were trash cans knocked over which leaked into something like a river that led to the water. The beach bar was not open and everyone sat where they could find. There were NO toilets... the sea, which used to have the colors of the beaches in the Ionian Islands, was not the same...
Just yesterday I saw pictures of Marble beach and nothing has changed... What happened to this beautiful beach???? Does anyone know if it is going to get cleaned up?
Have any of you been there recently? Please share what your thought are...
