The famous mining industry of Thassos with its blast furnaces, which are visible from the Metalia beach, creates a unique setting. There are also some ramshackle smelting chimneys of a deserted factory, which stretches out in the horizon. Due to the shallowness of the seashore and the crystal clear water, the Metalia beach is a very nice snorkelling destination.
