These happening places are a favorite among visitors, especially during the summer peak season. Limenas, the capital of Thassos, has fast-food outlets and some first-rate tavernas offering authentic Greek cuisine around the harbour. There are some bars, too, playing live music until late at night. Restaurants cater to the foreign tourists with a variety of dishes. Seafood is a major draw, which is readily available in the more up-market tavernas.

Bouzouki-bars with live bouzouki compositions are commonplace in most of the towns and island settlements. The Greek version of blues called ‘Rembetika’ is also rendered by local singers in select tavernas. Especially during weekends, mouth-watering dishes like grilled fish and meat fill the air with an enchanting aroma, which one would never want to miss during a night out in Thassos. It would not be an understatement that, for a romantic honeymoon trip, Thassos can create an ambience one cannot forget in haste. |
