Small
plains and valleys are separating the mountains
and are covered with olive groves, orange and citrus
trees and other fruit-bearing trees. Bushes, pine
forests, plane trees, cypresses, chestnut trees
and more vegetation are covering the ground of Samos.
Endless vineyards can be seen. From those are produced
the famous and excellent wines of Samos.
On Mount Kerkis are leaving numerous bird species,
while in the sea surrounding Samos seagulls, flamingos,
dalphins, the Mediterranean seal and the sea turtle
Careta-Careta are leaving.
The economy of Samos is mostly based on package
tourism. Viniculture and agriculture play a minimum
part. |
