Samos for how many days? One to Three days

Samos is one of the greenest islands in Greece and famous for its gorgeous beaches. There are many tourist resorts on the island, but they all keep their traditional character.

You will find below our excursions suggestions for 1, 2 or 3 days on the island of Samos Greece. For a general idea, you can view the things to see and things to do in Samos.

One day in Samos: Vathi and Kokkari

The first day on Samos, visit Vathi, the capital of the island. There is not much to do here but stroll around and have a morning coffee at the waterfront. This town is usually busy because it is one of the two main ports (along with Karlovasi) on the island. Then, head off to the most famous beaches of Samos, Lemonakia, and Tsamadou.

These two beautiful beaches have crystal water, gorgeous surroundings and they usually get much crowded, especially in high season. Close to these beaches, there is Kokkari, a lovely tourist place with a lot of tourist facilities and an organized beach for visitors.

Two days in Samos: Pythagorio and Heraion

1st day as described above.
The second day, go south of Vathi to Mykali, a white-pebbled and organized beach to enjoy swimming. About 7 km east of Mykali, there is Pythagorio, a lovely village with traditional architecture and a small port where fishing boats and yachts moor. In Pythagorio, you can visit the Eupalinus Tunnel, an ancient water tunnel, part of a huge aqueduct. Take an afternoon swim in Potokaki, an organized beach a couple of km from Pythagorion.

About 5 km from Pythagorio, there is Heraion, a lovely village for a calm afternoon walk. Few tourist facilities are found there, which makes it adorable in contrast to the other busy resorts on Samos. This village took its name from the Sanctuary of Hera that was discovered there and which is a nice site to visit today.

Three days in Samos: Karlovasi

1st and 2nd days as described above.
The third day, head off to Karlovassi, the second most important port of Samos and a popular tourist place. Although this is a busy village, it is nice for an excursion and has a large beach. If you follow the road from Karlovassi to the inland, you will find the waterfalls, about 3 km away, a gorgeous place with natural beauty and running water.

Cross the island of Samos and see some of its pure nature, till you reach Marathokampos, a traditional mountainous village. Nearby, there is the cave of Pythagoras, on the slopes of a mountain. You will need to do some trekking till up there, but the view to the island is gorgeous.
