The Church of Agios Spyridon

This church is situated in the capital of Samos, Vathy, on the Square of Agios Spyridon.

It is a church of an historic importance because it is the place where the decision to unite Samos with the rest of Greece was taken.

The church celebrates the feast of Saint Spyridon on the 12th of December.
Vourliotes, and it is surrounded by a dense forest.

This monastery is famous for its superb icons and frescoes and for its marvellous iconostasis.

The Monastery of Zoodohou Pigi

The Monastery of Zoodohou Pigi (The Source of Life) is located in a wooded area, on Mount Rampaidoni, to the east of the village Vlamari. It was founded during the 19th century.
The main church is a big three-aisled basilica with a round dome. Its middle aisle is dedicated to the Holy Cross, the north aisle to the Well of Life and the south aisle to Saint John the Baptist.

In the church, visitors will have the chance to admire an outstanding iconostasis, a fine pulpit and a superb bishop’s throne.

The library of the monastery houses a collection of religious relics such as books, manuscripts, vessels, etc…
 
The Monastery of Panagia Spilianis

This fine monastery is located in the village of Phythagorio, in the southern part of the island.

Its name means the Monastery of the Virgin of the Grotto.
Panagia Spiliani Church

The Monastery of Panagia Vrontiani

This is Samos’s oldest monastery. It was founded in 1476 and renovated many times, first in 1566, then in 1702 and in 1960.

It is located in the western part of Samos, near the village of
The main church is built in the form of a crucifix and its interior is beautifully decorated.

Four ancient columns have been incorporated to the church, brought from and ancient site in Asia Minor.

Agia Triada Church in Karlovasi

The Monastery Timiou Stavrou

This monastery is located in the east-central part of Samos. Its name means Holy Cross and it is among the oldest monasteries of the island. It was first built in 1582 and took its present form in 1838.
Panagia Church in Karlovasi

The feast of the monastery is celebrated on the 14th of September and welcomes all the inhabitants of Samos.

The Monastery Profitis Ilias lies 3 km to the southeast of Karlovasi.
