Lesvos Skalochorio 01
Skalochorio village Lesvos: This is a picturesque mountainous village located 55km north west of Mytilene. The village is built amphitheatrically on a high rocky hill on the mountainside offering magnificent views to the Aegean Sea. It is situated in a quiet area with greenery nature and lovely environment. The population deals mostly with agriculture and cattle-breeding.

The impressive homes made of stone with colorful painted shatters and doors compose a beautiful architecture. The quaint alleys and the narrow paved streets leading to unknown paths of the village are worth to be explored. There is a women association that produces traditional spoon sweets, different liqueurs and pasta.

The nearest small fishing port is Kalo Limani, a graphic area with only few houses, an ideal swimming location. In the area of Ovriokastro, there are ruins of a small fortress which one should also visit in the beautiful island of Lesvos.

Of special interest is the Monastery of Perivoli, a women convent dedicated to the Presentation of the Virgin. One of the known beaches located close to the village are Paleokastro and Agia Varvara. There are a few rooms in the region and several taverns serving delicious dishes to the visitors.
