Lesvos: Petra Lesvos

Petra village Lesvos: Petra is a large coastal settlement stretched alongside a beach. It is located 55km northwest from Mytilene in a greenery environment with much cultivation. The village is named after the rock dedicated to Virgin Mary Glikophilousa, standing imposingly in the middle of this traditional settlement. You can reach the top pf the rock by climbing 114 steps carved to the stone. It offers magnificent views from this spot all the way to the coast of Asia Minor.

There are lovely houses with typical architectural style in Petra and mansions which are well-maintained through the years. The paved streets and the quaint paths lead to wonderful shops and restaurants which are very close to the beach. There is a small narrow street that has a variety of traditional shops with souvenirs and other handmade things.
