More about: Lemnos island

The inhabitants of Lemnos, Eastern Aegean, protested yesterday for the unsufficient ferry connection of their island with their administrative centres (Athens, Thessaloniki and Lesvos).

As the residents say, there is only one ship to connect Lemnos with Athens, through the port of Lavrion Attica, twice a week, but many times the schedules are not held due to various reasons (weather conditions, strike of sailors, renovation works on the ship), so Lemnos remains cut from the rest of Greece for many days.

The same  problems apply for the ferries that connect Lemnos to Thessaloniki and Kavala. In view of the tourism season that starts next month and which is an important income for the island, the residents ask to immediately improve their ferry transportation.
