Hiking on Ikaria is perfect

Ikaria is a walkers paradise. 'Monopatia' everywhere - All trails well marked and easy to follow. Excellent 'walking map' available in Greek, English and German. The island is unspoilt and very Greek unlike many other islands. Good beaches -especially Armenistis and Nas- and the village of Christos Rachon was beautiful. The restaurants offered rather slow but very friendly services. Excellent choice of Greek food. Fortunately, no English breakfasts etc.
If you are looking for the real Greece without mass tourism, go to Ikaria. If you are interested in hiking, it is perfect. As with any Greek destination, it is best to avoid August.
