Never been to Ikaria before and didn't really know what to expect. Ikaria just left me amazed. The island is beautiful, with nice beaches, especially the secret ones! Green, light blue waters and nice wildlife. People are really friendly and the drink lots!
If you visit Ikaria in August , eventually you will end up in a local, traditional festival, with Greeks drinking, eating, playing and dancing traditional songs. Ikarian red wine was perfect, same for the food, especially fish, fresh and delicious to every tavern we visited. Locals also, advised us to try the Ikarian honey made from pine trees.
About places to visit: the town – port as you arrive is beautiful, but you'll probably see it anyway, if you are traveling by boat. Kambos is great with a big, great, sandy beach. Do not miss Nas river and the tavern by. Last but not least, Fragma lake is a must!
