activities. Not much tourist developed, Fourni is an ideal destination for people who want to enjoy some relaxing holidays and escape from the noisy crowd of the cities.
Almost hidden from the rest of the Greek islands, Fourni belongs to the Eastern Aegean complex. The waterfront is filled with fish taverns and traditional restaurants. Visitors sit in one of the tree-shaded tables outside, enjoy the magnificent view to the sea and watch the people passing by. The charming square of the village is covered with tall pine trees that provide good shade. There are few shops available in the village, like mini markets, pharmacy, bakery and local shops selling thyme honey and cheese, some of their local products.
Fourni distinguishes for the pristine beaches located within 10 and 30 minutes walk from the main village. The nearest beach to town is Psili Ammos, a long beach with amazing waters, ideal for a dive. Other beaches include Kambi, Vitsilia, Vlichada, Ellidaki and Bali and several secluded coves hidden between the hills.
A much quieter island of the complex is Thimena, opposite the main island of Fourni. With limited facilities and totally pristine, Thimena offers plenty of remote beaches to enjoy total privacy. You can go there by boat from the port of Fourni. |
