5 km to the south of Chios town
Description: It is a long and sandy beach. In fact, it is the largest tourist resort of Chios island. It is particulary popular due to its closeness to Chios town and because it is well-organized.

:: The Castle of Chios

Location:
To the north of Chios town
Description: Its construction started in the 10th century by the Byzantines and went through some reconstructions by the Venetians in the 16th century. Today it is an impressive and strong building that reminds the historical importance of Chios.

30 km to the south west of Chios town
Description: Pyrgi is one of the most beautiful villages of Chios. It is famous for its unique architecture and its closeby mastic trees, whose cultivation constitutes the main income of its residents.

:: The Monastery of Nea Moni

Location:
10 km from Chios town, close to Karyes village
Description: The Monastery of Nea Moni is the most important religious centre of Chios for centuries. It was built in the 11th century and has suffered many damages along its history.

4 km to the north of Chios town
Description: This may be the most famous village of Chios due to an Easter custome with fireworks. It has many sights to see and an interesting architecture.

Location:
Along the port of Chios town
Nearest village: These constructions were built centuries ago and were used to grind the wheat grain using the power of the wind. They do not function today but constitute great architectural sites.

:: Mastichochoria

Location:
On the southwestern side of Chios village
Description: Mastichochoria is actually a group of villages in the southwestern part of Chios that is known for the production of masticha, the most famous local product of Chios. Visiting the mastic trees will be a unique experience since these particular trees grow up only on Chios and almost nowhere in the rest of the world.

:: Olympi Cave

Location:
Near Olympi village, Sykia area, 30 km to the south west of Chios town
Description: This cave is another miracle of nature. It was explored in 1985 and it is actually a cave-gorge, 60m wide and with a humidity of 95%.

:: The archaeological site in Kato Fanes

Location:
Near Olympi village, about 30 km to the south west of Chios town
Description: Excavations have revealed that there was a sanctuaty dating from the 9th century B.C. There are remains from the ancient and Byzantine times.
