Simi Beaches: Pedi beach in Simi Greece
Simi Pedi 01 Pedi Beach Simi: Pedi Beach is in Pedi Bay, which offers a number of connected and consecutive small beaches. Pedi Beach is also the starting point for water taxis and on foot visitors to several other beaches nearby.

Visitors also like visiting Pedi beach thanks to the motor boats available to visit Emborio, Nanou and Marathoundas, the bays nearby or the secluded islands of Seskli and Nimos, ideal for fishing. Pedi Beach’s waters are also good for a number of water sports as well as for fishing, swimming, and snorkelling.

If you like laying on the sun or sitting on a peaceful Beach with a cold drink and a good book, Pedi beach is the place for you. Like many other beaches on Simi, Pedi Beach is quite stony. However, its waters are transparent and beautiful. Many tourists consider Pedi as the best beach on the island because of its stunning views and beautiful surroundings, as the place is backed by tamarisk trees offering shade.

Pedi beach is on the local bus route, and the place also offers a couple of beach-side taverns serving traditional Greek food. Most visitors enjoy trying some typical snacks - such as mezedakia -, and the local wine. You will also find a kiosk and café. Beach umbrellas and sun-beds are available at reasonable prices. The place is easy to reach thanks to this local bus, by the water taxi from Gialos, and on foot from Chorio. There is a small fishing village nearby, Pedi, offering interesting lodging options.

The village is full of traditional neoclassical houses, with wooden colourful doors and windows, and tiled roofs and it is worth a visit after a beach day. Both for visiting the Pedi beach and Pedi village, it is advisable to wear comfortable shoes and a sun hat, and taking some bottles of water, especially in summer, to avoid a sunstroke or a strained ankle that could spoil your holidays.Like some other beaches on Simi, Pedi Beach has pebbles on the shoreline, and some large pebbles in the shallow waters. The pebbles on the beach get rather hot after so many sun hours.

Therefore, wearing “jellies” or a similar type of shoe on your feet is and advantage for walking in and out of the water. As and interesting and funny detail, let’s remind the visitor that there is a variety of goats on Simi ’s beaches, which the local residents call the “beach-goat”, that are very clever in stealing tourists bags and / or any bread or fruits the might have brought to spend a day at the seaside. Nevertheless they are quite friendly and children really enjoy feeding them.

All in all, Pedi Beach is easy to reach and ideal for those who seek a relaxing holiday with their families. Although it lacks a hectic nightlife, it is always possible to see the sunset while having a drink in the beachside taverns. Pedi beach has the added advantage of receiving many visitors per year and still remain unspoiled.
