Embonas in Rhodes, Dodecanese Greece: This picturesque village is the highest village of Rhodes, south of the capital of the island, at an altitude of 850 metres. The high location of the village has kept it almost untouched by tourism and completely unspoiled; some of its inhabitants still wear local costumes and all are keeping the local customs and tradition, passing from a generation to another.
Fine multi-coloured embroideries are produced in Embonas and are part of the village's traditions. Almost all the houses of the village are excellent examples of the traditional architecture of Rhodes and are kept in good condition.
A few rooms for rent can be found in the picturesque Embonas, as well as traditional cafes and taverns serving some mouth-watering specialities. |
