Apolakia in Rhodes, Dodecanese Greece: Apolakia is a quiet village near Lindos, close to the road from Genadi to Vati and 92 kilometers from the town of Rhodes. The village seems to be built in a pit, from where it has taken its name. In the square village there is the Old Italian building, a typical example of Italian architecture, one of the most beautiful in the village.
Small traditional houses with tiled roofs, old windmills and quiet monasteries are some of the greatest features in Apolakkia. The magic of this place comes from the wonderful Lake of Apolakkia where people can swim in the blue waters and relax under the shade of the trees. Next to the lake there is a small Byzantine temple of Agios Georgios built in 1290 offering a wonderful view of the beach. |
