The

”Hilopities” (sort of pasta cooked with tomato sauce
or meat) and “mousaka” (the famous dish with potatoes,
aubergines, cheese and bechamel) are some of the many
Rhodian specialties. The tasty local food can be tried
in all the restaurants and traditional taverns of
the City of Rhodes as well as in the traditional taverns
in the villages of Rhodes.
The village of Afandou (or Afantou) is specialised
in casserole meat dishes cooked in earthenware pots,
along with tender potatoes and fresh onions; in this
village is also worth to try the delicious local dish
called “pitaroudia”.
