I am in my 60's and therefore I prefer mostly te village life and no music bars and discos, rather a relaxed nightlife. We stayed in Afandou village on our vacations to Rhodes, about two years ago. The beaches was beautiful and pretty crowded in late August.
People in taverns and gift shops were friendly, although sometimes I would feel some pressure to buy. Food was excellent but dishes were normal. You usually find the same menus in Greek restaurants, whether you are in Athens or in the islands. However, all are of good quality. There is no such thing as a bad Greek meal.
Our hotel was great but one thing that I din't like was that the sewage system hasn't been improved over the last 25 years that I visit Greece. Bins need to be emptied on a daily basis, too, which is very weard because in UK we have sold these things out since many ages.
