The trip to Rhodes was very long (18 hours by ferry) but fortunately there were no delays. Last summer, we had travelled by ferry again and the departure was 2 hours late. We had been more tired of the delay than the trip. Fortunately, this time all went good.
We love all the greek islands but and we are coming for relaxing every year. This time we were looking for something more traditional. Afandou in Rhodes seemed the perfect place, which it proved to be correct. Protect such lovely beaches and do not turn them in teen beaches, like Faliraki.
Greece loves its history a lot and preserves it nicely. The Acropolis in Lindos was excellent. It is just a shame that some monuments are closing in the afternoon. When are we supposed to climb up the hills with the monuments, when the sun is burning? They should really be open till sunset.
The traditional Greek food is a must, it is absolutely lovely. I personally like the lamb kleftico, or stifado and the sword fish is always cooked to perfection. In Afandou we went to the reknowned four seasons restaurant almost every evening, as the chef and waiters were fantastic. They even opened one and half hours earlier, so they could give us a last meal before setting off to the airport at 7pm.
