Starting from the 19th of September, the Days of Music festival is all set to make reappearance, with quite a bang this time. Continuing on till the 2nd of October, the festival will take place at Palace of the Grand Master as well as Panagia Tou Kastrou. Featuring some of the best music talents in the world today, many international artists are all set to enthrall the audience in Rhodes, later this year. Some of the famous artists playing at the festival are pianist Wolfgang Glemser, the up and coming cellist Wen-Sinn Yang as well as maestro Dejan Dacic.

Born in 1965 and brought up in Bern, in Switzerland, Wen-Sinn Yang is a young and extremely talented artist, who is slowly gaining popularity on the world music stage. Having won the first prize at the Geneva International Music competition in 1991, he has performed all over the world, at major concert halls in Japan, Taiwan and even Europe. Many of his performances have been in collaboration with prominent artists such as Sir Colin Davis, Wolfgang Sawallisch and Lorin Maazel to name a few. Yang will open the festival at Rhodes with a concert comprising of the works of maestros such as Bach, Rachmaninov and Mendelssohn Bartholdy, and accompanying him will be Ferline Studi, on the piano.

Performing on the 24th of September will be Wolfgang Glemser, who will be playing with the Berlin Soloists Quartet classical ensemble and together they will play some of the most eminent 20th century compositions. Two days later on the 26th of September, Ensemble Accentus from Austria will play Sephardic melodies obtained from around the Mediterranean as well songs from the Spanish Jewish community, which was found towards the end of the 15th century, around the eastern Mediterranean. The community has adopted elements from other cultures over the years and their music is truly a fusion of the best. Founded by Thomas Wimmer, the ensemble specializes in Spanish music, from earlier periods of history and has a strong touch of improvisation, which makes it quite unique.

The Transcription Ensemble, a Greek chamber music ensemble, will present its interpretations of transcriptions of classics, by popular composers. The ensemble was founded by the Forminx Company and will perform on the 30th of September. Last, but by no means the least, ending the festival will be a concert, conducted by Dejan Dacic, the Gratz Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, which will play in honor of the 50th death anniversary of the famous composer Sibelius, and will play a lot of his works.

Held every September, the Days of Music festival is a highly anticipated event, and not just by lovers of music. This festival has a reputation of using restored monuments as venues, and some of the past venues include the Church of Our Lady of Burgh and also the Archaeological Museum, which was initially the Courtyard of the Hospital of the Knights.
