Diving and hiking tour in eastern islands

General Description

This tour will be a very special experience for you. You will try scuba diving, sightseeing and hiking on the eastern side of Rhodes, in the region of Lindos.

Even if you do not have any previous experience with scuba diving, this should not be a problem for you (unless of course if you have some serious health problem, such as heart disease, in which case you should better not try diving). Our professional trainers will you explain how the scuba diving equipment works, how to use them and will give you a short theory dive lesson. After that, you will be ready for a unique dive.

The diving spot is found on the eastern side of Rhodes and you will explore interesting sea flora and fauna, underwater caves and reefs. It is safe and even young children (more than 10 years old) can participate. For your safety, you must not have a large breakfast before diving and also you must not drink alcohol the night before. The duration of the dive is 30 min for beginners and 45 min for experienced divers. As we have small groups of participants, we pay extra attention to everyone.

As we enjoy diving, other members of our team prepare a barbeque lunch in the diving centre. When we return, we will find a full lunch of grilled meat and fresh salads, the perfect environment to talk and share your scuba diving experience.

After lunch, we visit the picturesque village of Lindos, where you are free to walk around the narrow streets. In Lindos, you will find lovely coffee places, shops with souvenirs and a relaxing atmosphere. If you want, you can also head to the Acropolis of Lindos, an important archaeological site on the hill top above the village.

After Lindos, we head north and stop for a hike (1.7 km) across the Orange Trees Valley up to a nice location with water streams and plane trees. This is a great chance to see a hidden region of Rhodes that even the locals are not aware of.

This full day ends with a visit at the Association for the protection and safeguard of the small horse (pony) of Rhodes. There you can see the rare breed of Rhodian Horse, which is in danger of extinction today. This breed is an important part of the local heritage and was already recorded in the early 20th century during the period of the Italian occupation. Their population was dramatically decreased in the 1960s and the breed would probably extinct until today if the members of this Association did not gather and protect them.
