The main port of Patmos is Skala, where ferries and cruise ships arrive. Skala is the most tourist developed spot of the island and there visitors can find all amenities and services. From Skala, there is frequent transportation to other spots of the island. A narrow road up leads to Chora, a picturesque village with gorgeous view to the sea. On a hill above Chora, there is the Monastery of Saint John surrounded by strong walls, so that it looks like a fortress.
 Patmos island is a great place to relax and has a very spiritual atmosphere due to its religious background. In fact, in summer many religious music festivals are organized in Patmos island and attract lots of visitors. The beaches of Patmos island can be organized with sunbeds, umbrellas and taverns, or they can also be totally secluded. Most popular beaches are Agriolivado and Kampos Geraniou, however you can discover lots of private coves around the island. |
