The main celebration on Nisyros is conducted on 15th of August for the festival of Panagia Spiliani.
There is a nine day austerities abided by participating women. On the last day a procession is held by the women carrying the icon of the Virgin Mary from the Abbot's Square to the refectory.

The annual festival held in the monastery of St. John the Theologian near Nikia village is not to miss. This traditional festival is celebrated accompanied by music, dancing and plenty of food.
The festivals of St.Panteleimon takes place on 27th of July, while the feast of Panagia Kyra is held on the 24th of August. |

There are also the local religious festivals of St Nikitas and St. Apostles, that take place on June, 21 and 30.
The people of Nisyros use also to celebrate marriage ceremonies with much fun and fanfare tuning to music and a famous matrimonial dancing known as Perioli. |
