After being rescued from a boat a group of 26 illegal immigrants were detained on Leros yesterday. Believed to have come from neighboring Turkey, they foundered off the island's coast. The rescue effort consisted of the contributions from five coast guard vessels and a Super Puma helicopter.
Late on Thursday, coast guard officials on Patras detained three illegal immigrants who had tried to board a boat to Western Europe.
