General information

Menetes Village Karpathos: The picturesque village of Menetes is located 8 km south west from Pigadia, the capital of Karpathos. It is one of the most attractive villages of the island built amphitheatrically on the slopes of the hill.

The most striking feature of the village is the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin that stands literally at the edge of the settlement. A road separates the village in two parts where one can see little whitewashed houses with blue shutters and doors.

A stroll around the narrow alleys reveals the flowered balconies and colorful yards which create the charming atmopshere of the village. The lush green forests, imposing cliffs and small coves complete the beautiful scenery of Menetes.

Some of the best sightseeings of the village are the Church of the Assumption, the Byzantine Church of Agios Mamas and the archaeological collection of the village, with plenty of interesting exhibits from the surrounding area like sculptures, ceramics and icons.
