The Acropolis of Arkasa on Karpathos The Acropolis of Arkasa: The village of Arkasa on the west coast of Karpathos, 23 km from Pigadia sits against the waves of the Karpathian Sea presenting beautiful views across Kassos Island. The Karpathos was occupied by the Mycenaeans during the 14th century BC, who built an acropolis with cyclopean walls on the rocky headland. This citadel is known as the Paleokastro or the Mycenaean acropolis.
