picturesque town with traditional architecture and lovely waterfront. Another port in Karpathos island is Diafani, a small village on the northern side of the island. Actually, daily boats leave Pigadia and go for tours to Diafania and Saria islet. Buses from Diafani get visitors to Olympos, an amazing village built amphitheatrically on the slopes of a mountain. This is the most famous village of Karpathos island, where people live traditionally, wear folk costums and all houses have a small church in the yard.
 The most tourist developed part of Karpathos island is the western part. Finiki, Lefkos and Arkassa are the most frequent resorts with all tourist facilities and organized beaches. On the eastern side of Karpathos island, there are the exotic beaches of Apella, Kyra Panagia and Amopi, with blue green water and soft sand. These are the most beautiful beaches in Karpathos island and provide great natural beauty. The southern side of Karpathos island gets frequently affected by strong winds and provides the best spot for windsurfing. In fact, a windsurfing championship takes place in Karpathos island every summer. |
